2011--"The Year of The Breakthrough"

When you're up against a struggle
That's shattered all your dreams
And your hopes been cruely crushed
By Satan's manifested schemes.
And you feel the urge within you
To submit to earthly fears
Don't let the faith your standing in
Seem to disappear

CHORUS:
Praise the Lord! He will through those who praise him
Praise the Lord! For our God inhabits praise.
Praise the Lord! And those chains that seem to bind you
Serve only to remind you.
That they drop powerless behind you.
When you praise him.

The words to this song were brought back to my mind this weekend at church. It's a song that I used to sing and one that has so much truth. The song was sung by one of our musicians and he set up the song by saying that God had impressed him to sing this song at that service. He didn't know why but God said someone needed to hear it. I'm glad he listend to God because we needed to hear that song; it was for us.

Our pastor at Trinity Assembly has said that he believes that God has impressed upon him that 2011 will be the "Year of Breakthrough" but that God's people will have to stand on what they know in order to reach "Breakthrough". Well his words have definitely been accurate so far. Our year started with our youngest daughter's appendix rupturing on Christmas day and it carried into the New Year. After two hospital stays and two drain tubes, massive weight loss and missing nearly two months of school, we have seen "Breakthrough!" Baley is eating again, complexion looking good and no problems from the ruptured appendix.

Now, the next battle. Just this week, we have learned that my wife Lisa has a tumor that has to be removed. It has been diagnosed as cancer but we believe that "by His stripes we are healed" and that this too will be another "breakthrough" for the Roysdon family. John 10:10 states The thief (Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. That means satan's attempts to cause calamity in our family will be overtaken by God's gift of abundant life which equals...breakthrough! We thank him for His blessings and for the restoration of health to our family!

To update this post, my wife Lisa is now on chemo treatment and has been now for about 3 months. She is doing well. My daughter Baley is also doing well after another surgery to correct further complications from her ruptured appendix. It looks like everything with her is now repaired and she is on the way to healing and beginning college in a couple of weeks! So as the song says, the chains drop powerless behind you when you "praise Him!"
